Buying and Selling Horses with Stasser Equine

Today I feel that I must clarify some things that have occurred recently involving the sale of one our AQHA Foals. And while there has been a great deal of discussion about this topic on other forums, some of it not so nice, I choose to stick to the facts.

The hot subject right now is why we chose to not sell our weanling "Artifactually" to a certain person. There has been many false allegations made since we determined not to sell to this particular individual. So just to clarify, here are the facts so that you can come to your own conclusion.

  • When purchasing a horse from a further distance away, it is always advised that the buyer have someone they trust such as a vet do an exam of the horse before deciding whether or not to purchase. This is something that removes risk from both the Buyer as well as the Seller. *This was refused.*
  • The Buyer is normally always the one responsible for the transport of the horse to the new location. Although we try to make this as easy as possible, there may be times that we are unable to accomplish doing this ourselves, especially over long distances. In any case the Buyer is always responsible for transport cost, this is a normal part of business. *This became an issue which was not handled correctly by this person*
  • We will email or fax a Purchase Agreement for a Buyer to look at previous to making a decision of purchase. These are legal documents and are not to be edited by anyone other than Stasser Equine staff and any kind of edits must be agreed upon by both parties, Buyer as well as the Seller. *This person edited the language and demanded a signature*
  • When the Buyer has decided on the purchase of a horse from Stasser Equine, and all arrangements have been made, then the normal course of action is for the Buyer to pay the agreed upon price. *This was refused*
  • Once Stasser Equine has a cleared payment in its account, then and only then will a Bill Of Sale be issued to the Buyer. *This person demanded a Bill of Sale repeadedly prior to Stasser Equine receiving any payment*
  • When transporting a horse out of the state of origin there is a great deal of paperwork and preparation that must be done and decisions to be made. Email is the fastest way to send documents for the Buyer to look at and discuss. *This person claims to not have received the Purchase or Transport Agreement though they were the only ones not received*
  • When selling online to anyone, Stasser Equine will never share it's account information and will NEVER ask for yours, that is to be done between the banks alone. Please note, this is very dangerous to do in any form. Deal ONLY with your bank. *This person asked numerous times for our bank account numbers in order to make a payment*
It is for these reasons we chose not to pursue this individual as an owner for one of our horses.

We care about the horses we raise and the homes they go too. We also admire a person who has enough moxy to make an offer and share their goals for the future of the horse.

In attempts to prevent any additional harassment or public slander, Stasser Equine will have some protocol in place for answering emails. We will require you to tell us what your experience level is with horses, what your long and short term goals are for the horse as well as yourself, and of course what you are looking for in a horse. We will also require that your first and last name be signed on your first email to us along with your phone number.

Our goals are still the same for Stasser Equine and that is to make a difference in the Quarter Horse Industry with great horses. The difference being the focus on proper nutrition which in turn gives you soundness for your ride at all levels. We believe that every horse is a treasure to be taken care of and enjoyed.
